We invite you to join us in midwifery study and camaraderie at
Sacred Mountain Midwifery School
Sacred Mountain Midwifery School strives to teach the science and art of midwifery by offering a traditional approach that emphasizes apprenticeship-style training and experiential learning through lecture and hands-on experience. Our curriculum is applicable to a wide student range – from inspired to seasoned - and requires no prerequisites. Our approach is to midwife the student into midwifery. Our student body is small - 8 to 10 students - so we can provide intensive small group learning and individualized training as well as growth toward individual goals. Our curriculum is based on NARM’s PEP-process and the Practical Skills Guide.

Upon completion you will have:
  • PEP skills signed off through appropriate opportunities to demonstrate mastery
  • Preparation for CPM exam through both academic and hands-on training
  • Advancement of your skill understanding and capabilities
  • Personal, individualized, one-on-one guidance and instruction on your path to midwifery
  • Communication skills: group process, consensus-decision making, group dynamics
  • Contact with a network of potential preceptors
  • Certificate of completion

  • Previous Student Testimonials
"Attending SMM School was both a challenging and fulfilling experience. I had been involved in birth work for many years – working as a doula, teaching childbirth classes, even apprenticing with a midwife. But I periodically lost sight of my ultimate goal of becoming a midwife. Sarita and Ruth Ann helped refocus this goal and, nudged me along the course of our studies. Even as they encouraged and prodded me, they continuously refueled me along the way."
