Our Philosophy:
We aspire to assist women in their midwifery education via personal, individualized guidance and instruction. We believe in the human ability to learn through experiential lessons and design our workshops to provide this form of education. We also believe in the power of education in the work done in a group, both by the dynamics of the group and in consensus-decision making. Group members offer experience, stories and personal insights that often deepen everyone’s lessons.
How it works
Weekend Intensives include group and individual work. Our goal is to assist students in moving to their next level, regardless of where they start.
Individual:
Beginning the 8-month course, instructors talk extensively with each student to ensure their sessions will meet their specific needs. At each session, students will meet individually with an instructor to discuss their experiences. Instructors will debrief, advise and orient students toward getting the most out of the group portions of the weekend. At the close of each weekend, students will meet individually with instructors to receive personalized homework. Additionally, students will have phone and email access to instructors between sessions to assist them in their homework.
Group:
Class days will run 9AM to 9PM, with meal breaks. Sessions will alternate between lecture and workshop and include plenty of hands-on practice as well as question and discussion time. Space will be allotted for story-telling, debriefing and sharing among group members as is beneficial. Time will be allotted so that each student feels confident with their mastery of skills.
